Affectionately known to many as “Buddy”, Pastor Eddie Lee McKelvey Sr., is a God-fearing; Bible believing; Bible teaching; Powerful Preaching; Anointed and Appointed; Filled with the Holy Spirit, Man of God.
He was born in Houston, TX to the late Jack Sr. and Maggie McKelvey. For 32 years he, along with his family attended Lyons Avenue Church of God in Christ under the leadership of Pastor W.G. Law.
He was called to the ministry in 1972 and began evangelizing throughout Houston and abroad. After one year of serving under the Pastoral ship of the presiding Bishop of Texas South Central, Bishop N. H. Henderson, he dutifully answered the Lord’s call and House of Deliverance Church of God in Christ Revival Center was birthed. The first services were held at the home of his loving and supportive parents. In a short period of time, the church was blessed and later relocated to 5401 Fairchild Street and through continued blessings were able to once again move to the present location at 7807 Booker Street. The beautiful edifice was constructed and when services began in the new building, they were able to move in debt-free.
Pastor McKelvey has been Pastoring for 4o+ years and has served for years as Superintendent in the Texas Southeast Jurisdiction and East Houston District under the leadership of Bishop R. E Woodard, Sr. He is currently a very active member in the Texas Central Metropolitan Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction under the leadership of Bishop Frank E. Fanniel Sr.
He graduated from Kashmere High School and attended Prairie View A&M University. Among his many talents, he is a noted basketball player, having played on the Kashmere High School State Championship basketball team; he received many accolades for his abilities. His religious studies includes the Charles Harrison Mason Bible College of Biblical Studies formerly Houston Bible Institute (2001) and the Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary for Biblical Counseling (August 2010-August 2011).
Pastor McKelvey has been married to First Lady Aneither J. Abram for 50+ years. They are parents to 9 children; 30 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
He is an avid fisherman, a gifted song writer and singer. He sang with The McKelvey Singers, currently sings in the HOD Male Chorus, and often accompanies the HOD Mass choir.
